Privacy Policy

MySchool PA (myschoolpa.com) is a personal academic assistant for students, built and run by Udoka Mbah. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. If you have questions, email myschoolpa5@gmail.com.

1. Information we collect

From your Google account when you sign in

Your name, email address and profile picture, used to create your account and show who you are.
A Google Calendar access token, only if you grant calendar permission. It is stored on our servers and is only ever used by our servers, never sent to your browser or anyone else.

Information you add to the app

Courses, class times, instructors, office hours and grading breakdowns.
Deadlines, exams, personal items and notes.
Habits, habit check-ins, Pomodoro settings and completed study sessions.
Files you upload to the assistant, such as course outlines and syllabi.
Your settings, such as your preferred name, colour theme and term dates.
Friends you add (by their MySchool PA email), friend requests and meetings you set up or join.

Stored only in your own browser

Your light/dark theme, a running Pomodoro timer, and a copy of which notifications you have seen are kept in your browser's local storage so they survive a page reload. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

2. How we use Google user data

MySchool PA requests the Google Calendar scope calendar.events only so it can keep your calendar in step with your schedule. With it, the app:

creates events on your primary Google Calendar for your classes, deadlines, exams and meetings you accept,
updates or deletes those same events when you edit or delete them in MySchool PA,
looks up events that MySchool PA itself created (each one is marked "Synced from MySchool PA") so it can update them and remove accidental duplicates.

The app does not read, store, analyse or use any other events on your calendar. Google user data is never sold, never used for advertising, never shared with other users, and never sent to any AI model, including for training.

MySchool PA's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. How we use the rest of your information

To show you your schedule, deadlines, habits, study history and notifications.
To answer you in the AI assistant. When you send a message or attach a document, that message, the document, and a summary of your own courses, upcoming deadlines, and your friends' names and emails are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate a reply and, when you ask, to add items to your schedule. Chat conversations themselves are not saved by MySchool PA. This never includes data from your Google Calendar.
To help friends find a time to meet. Accepted friends can see only the times you are busy (start and end times), never what the busy time is for. People in a meeting you set up or accept can see its title, time, location and who is going.
To keep the service working, secure and free of abuse.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your information. It is only handled by the services that run the app:

Supabase, which stores the app's database, sign-in and uploaded files (hosted in Canada).
Vercel, which hosts the website and runs its server code.
Google, for sign-in, Google Calendar (only if you connect it) and the Gemini AI assistant.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and security practices.

5. Storage, security and retention

Your data is protected with access rules so that each account can only read its own information (with the narrow friend and meeting exceptions above). Uploaded files are kept in private storage that is only reachable through your signed-in session. Connections are encrypted with HTTPS. We keep your information for as long as your account is active.

6. Your choices and rights

Edit or delete any course, deadline, habit, file or meeting inside the app at any time.
Use Settings → Reset all my data to delete your courses, deadlines and uploaded files, and remove the events MySchool PA added to your Google Calendar.
Disconnect Google at any time from your Google Account permissions page. The app then stops being able to reach your calendar.
To delete your whole account and everything linked to it, or to request a copy of your data, email myschoolpa5@gmail.com. We will act on it within 30 days.

7. Children

MySchool PA is made for students and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email myschoolpa5@gmail.com and it will be deleted.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. If a change affects how Google user data is used, we will ask for your consent again before it applies to you.
